The Tennessee Valley Quilters Association (TVQA) began in 1980 when a small group of nineteen quilting enthusiasts gathered in Bell Buckle, Tennessee. Since that time, it has grown to a valley-wide association with a membership of over 1300 with member guilds located in Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia. The purpose of TVQA is to promote interest in, and develop appreciation for quilts and quiltmaking.

Throughout the year, TVQA sponsors seminars, workshops, retreats, research and charity projects, and other educational activities. The organization fosters fellowship, mutual aid and the sharing of common interests.
